OASIS
The stadium story continuesOn 14 September, Oasis announced Live ’27: 38 shows across the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe and the United States, with Richard Ashcroft scheduled as special guest throughout. September’s development was the announcement; the concerts belong to 2027.
The Gallaghers helped give 1990s Britpop its worldwide voice. Following their 2025 reunion, another stadium itinerary keeps that connection alive for the generation that grew up with “Live Forever”—and for listeners discovering the songs today.

CÉLINE DION
A promise kept in ParisCéline Dion opened her Paris residency at La Défense Arena on 12 September. Her emotional return to a full concert, after an extended absence, became one of the month’s most memorable live moments.
Sky News and Reuters reported the performance in the context of the stiff person syndrome diagnosis she disclosed in 2022. A return to performing does not establish that the condition has resolved. For one of the defining ballad voices of the 1990s, the night renewed a bond with audiences across her French and English repertoire.

STEVIE WONDER
A masterpiece, in fullOn 8 September, Stevie Wonder announced 18 anniversary shows built around Songs in the Key of Life. He would perform the album in full each night, on an itinerary running from Birmingham on 13 October to Los Angeles on 19 December.
The 1976 record, home to “Sir Duke” and “I Wish,” remains a landmark in soul storytelling. September brought a concrete concert announcement around that legacy.

U2
A first look at Carnaval De LuzU2 announced Carnaval De Luz on 24 September and released “Silencio” the same day. Their official announcement set 13 November 2026 as the release date for the 12-song album, produced by Jacknife Lee.
Presented as their first studio album of new material in nine years, it arrives in the band’s 50th year. The musicians behind The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby opened another recording chapter in September; the album itself was still to come.

MADONNA
Another opening chapter at MTVMadonna opened the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on 27 September. The elaborate performance drew on the world of Confessions II and included appearances by Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX.
The performance we previewed on 21 September had now happened. Since her “Like a Virgin” appearance at the inaugural VMAs in 1984, Madonna has helped define the relationship between pop, image and choreography. September added another chapter to that long television history.

NIRVANA
Honouring a generation’s visual legacyNirvana received the Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs on 27 September. Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear appeared together to accept the honour, presented by Chuck D.
The video for “Smells Like Teen Spirit” remains a defining image of alternative rock breaking into mainstream television in the 1990s. The award brought that visual legacy back into focus. An appearance to accept an honour does not, by itself, announce a new Nirvana record or tour.

SCORPIONS
The calendar moves to 2027Scorpions’ official website dated its Mexico and Las Vegas postponement notice 4 September. The Las Vegas Review-Journal also reported that the eight-show PH Live engagement had moved to 2027. The band cited unforeseen circumstances.
No health explanation was confirmed in that statement. For the group whose songs include “Still Loving You” and “Wind of Change,” this was a schedule change rather than a farewell announcement. The replacement Las Vegas engagement was announced for 9–25 September 2027.

LIONEL RICHIE
A procedure followed by time to restOn 22 September, Lionel Richie’s representative confirmed to ABC News and ITV News that he had undergone a procedure for atrial fibrillation. The representative said it had gone well and that Richie would take time away from performing to rest.
The date here refers to the announcement, not the day of the procedure. No firm return date was given in that statement. From the Commodores to “Hello” and “All Night Long,” Richie’s voice remains central to the shared musical memory of the 1970s and 1980s.
