Rush evolved during the 1970s from a hard-rock trio into one of progressive rock’s most technically ambitious bands. Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart built a sound around complex rhythm, long-form composition and science-fiction or philosophical themes.
Neil Peart changes the band
Peart joined in 1974 and quickly became both drummer and principal lyricist, giving Rush a more distinctive intellectual and rhythmic identity.
