Blues-club beginnings
The group emerged from the same London blues scene that shaped The Rolling Stones, drawing heavily from Chicago blues and American R&B. Early recordings emphasized live energy and blues repertoire.
Clapton, Beck and Page
Eric Clapton represented the group’s purist blues phase. Jeff Beck brought feedback, distortion and experimental tone into the sound, while Jimmy Page pushed the band toward heavier arrangements that would lead directly into Led Zeppelin.
